Romantic overnight tour to Angthong Marine Park

Are you planning a romantic getaway to Koh Samui or Koh Phangan? If so, we have the perfect suggestion for you - an overnight tour to Angthong Marine Park. This idyllic destination boasts stunning natural beauty, crystal-clear waters, and breathtaking views that are sure to take your breath away.

But what sets this tour apart from others is the chance to spend a night on Wua Talap Island, where you can fully immerse yourself in the beauty of the marine park. The island offers a range of amenities for tourists, including a tourist office, museum, restaurant (open until 10 pm), beach bar with a fresh brewed coffee (open until 4 pm), bungalows, camping sites, and lodges for staff. The park's well-groomed and processed territory ensures a comfortable and safe camping experience. During your stay, make sure to visit the viewpoint before sunset to witness the panoramic beauty of the park. You can also explore the park's caves (Bua Boke cave, the trailhead is on the beach), lagoons, and beaches, or take a dip in the crystal clear waters of the sea. The park is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including monkeys, sea turtles, and various species of birds and fish.

There is mobile telephony and internet on the island provided by AIS and TrueMove companies, and power outages are rare but can happen. Don't forget to bring some flashlights with you.

How to get to Angthong (your choices of boats and an island you want to come back)

We offer two options to choose from (both daily):

  • By Big boat from Koh Samui and Koh Phangan (reaches Angthong within 1.30 - 1.45 hours)
  • By speedboat from Samui or Koh Phangan (reaches Angthong within an hour)

You have the option to book a tour on a Big boat or a speed boat, departing from either Koh Samui or Koh Phangan, with a return to the same island only. If you opt for the speed boat option from both islands, you have the opportunity to be dropped off at a different island on the way back at no additional cost. Kindly provide us with all the necessary details in your booking form.

Kindly note that we have discontinued offering group transfers for speed boat tours on Koh Phangan only. However, you have the option to make your way to Thong Sala pier independently or we can make arrangements for a private transfer at an extra cost. You will always have your land transfer included on Koh Samui though.

Once you have completed your Angthong tour by a big boat from Samui, and plan to relocate to Koh Phangan, you may board a Songserm ferry from the neighboring pier at 16:30, after returning to Nathon pier on Koh Samui. The ferry will arrive at Thong Sala at 17:30, and the cost of the ticket is 250 Baht. You can easily purchase tickets on the spot before departure, without any inconvenience. Given that we cannot ensure the timely arrival of the Big boat, it is highly unlikely that you will make it on time. Therefore, we strongly suggest booking a tour by speed boat in this scenario.

HOW TO MAKE A RESERVATION ( a detailed guide)

When making your tour reservation, please ensure that you indicate the type of vessel you prefer - a big boat or a speedboat, your departure place (Koh Samui or Koh Phangan), and whether you would like to include kayaking in your tour (only available on a big boat, your speed boat option always includes kayaking) as well as your returning island if you want to change it (it works for a speed boat tour only). If you book a speedboat tour from Koh Phangan or coming back to Koh Phangan, kindly let us know if you require a private land transfer there (we don't provide group transfers for a speed boat tour on Koh Phangan). Additionally, please specify your preferred accommodation type - bungalow with 1 or 3 bedrooms, or tent, and the number of nights you plan to stay in the marine park.

There are only four bungalows available for booking, so be sure to book in advance if you're interested in this option.

  • Two bungalows with 1 bedroom for 2 persons and 1 bathroom
  • One bungalow with 2 bedrooms for 6 person and 2 bathrooms (currently undergoing maintenance)
  • One bungalow with 3 bedrooms for 8 persons and 3 bathrooms

The bungalows are equipped with basic amenities, such as electricity, a fan (no air conditioning), bed linen, and towels. The two and three bedroom bungalows have two or three single beds in one room. While they may not offer a sea view, they are conveniently located within walking distance to the beach and other facilities on the island.

On the other hand, if you prefer to stay in a tent, there is no need to book or pay in advance unless it's peak season and it's better to check on availability. The tent camp is situated closer to the sea and some of the tents even offer a sea view. The tents are modern, waterproof, and spacious, with mosquito nets on windows and doors. Each tent is equipped with two foams, two pillows, and two plaids, and additional sets are available for an extra fee. There are some different types of bungalows with a different price range. Please, check on all the details regarding rents on the spot.

You will receive a voucher for the tour and bungalow reservation automatically after payment to your email address or through WhatsUp (for a bungalow only). You do not need to print them out; showing the reservation of the bungalow (with codes, Ref 1 and Ref 2) at reception during check-in is sufficient. We advise taking a screenshot since there might be some issues with WiFi in Angthong.

The price is given per bungalow, with the maximum number of people it can accommodate. There are only four bungalows available for booking. Two bungalows have one bedroom for two persons and one bathroom. One bungalow has two bedrooms for six people and two bathrooms (under maintenance now). One bungalow has three bedrooms for eight people and three bathrooms. The bungalows have electricity, a fan (no air conditioning), bed linen, and towels. In the two- and three-bedroom bungalows, there are two or three single beds in one room. The bungalows look like typical clean houses in Thai style and are located behind the museum, without a sea view, but within walking distance to it due to the very small size of the island.

In order to secure a bungalow, it is necessary to book and pay in advance. We will make an advanced reservation for you and notify you of the date until which the option is available. Once we have received payment, we will provide you with a bungalow voucher either by attaching it to your order or sending it via WhatsUp. Please note that there is a booking fee of 500 Baht per booking (not per bungalow). It is important to be aware that the price of the bungalow for all booked nights, as well as the booking fee, are non-refundable. This policy applies even in the event of cancellation due to inclement weather conditions, as reservations made at national parks cannot be canceled. Prior to making a booking, you must agree to these terms and conditions by clicking the booking button on your reservation.

If you prefer a tent, you do not need to book and pay in advance. Only in the peak season, it's better to check on availability.

Additionally, if you're interested in exploring the marine life and underwater scenery of the park, you can participate in a kayaking tour. This activity is only available for those who choose to book a tour on the big boat or take a tour by speed boat (please, note that kayaking programs in two cases are different). The kayaking tour takes you through the lagoon and caves around the islands, allowing you to witness the stunning beauty of the park up close.

After arriving at the Wua Talap island

  • Firstly - pick up all your stuff from the boat. If you want, you can take the mask and snorkel from the boat with you (after making a note in the notebook). Remember that a penalty is levied for the loss of equipment.
  • Secondly - we recommend you do not stay on the beach for a long time, and not try to reach viewpoint or Bua Bok cave in the heat. Better go directly to the reception which is located at the museum. Remember that guides will accompany you and will help you with check-in. At the reception show your booking documents (for a bungalow) or pay for camping.
  • Thirdly - make yourself comfortable, relax, order some refreshing drinks in the restaurant. In few hours all crowds of tourists and boats will disappear and the island will be at your disposal! Now is your turn! As soon as the heat goes down, hurry up to explore the island.

Your by-time in the marine park

Once you arrive at Wua Talap Island, the main island of Angthong Marine Park, you can start your adventure by picking up your belongings from the boat. If you're interested, you can also take a mask and snorkel from the boat with you, but make sure to note it down in the notebook provided to avoid penalties for lost equipment. We recommend heading to the reception at the museum as soon as possible to avoid the heat and crowds of tourists. The guides will accompany you and assist you with the check-in process. Simply show your booking documents if you've booked a bungalow on reception. After that, you can relax and enjoy some refreshing drinks at the restaurant or at the beach bar (that runs until 4 pm only) before exploring the island.

We recommend taking advantage of the cooler temperatures to explore the island. Start by reaching the highest viewpoint before sunset to experience the stunning panoramic scenery of the islands. The way to the highest viewpoint is not difficult for adults and children aged 4-5 years old but make sure you wear comfortable shoes. After sunset, you can have dinner at the restaurant which is open until 10 PM. The menu features a diverse range of Thai and European dishes, including a fruit plate, with prices that are generally affordable.

At night, enjoy the beauty of the island's tropical nature, its sounds, smells, and colors. The island is especially beautiful during a full moon. Try to get a good night's sleep to wake up early to see the stunning sunrise. After breakfast, we recommend going kayaking to avoid crowds of tourists. The rental fee for one kayak is 300-500 Baht per hour. If you prefer to kayak with a guide and a group, you will cover a larger distance. If you choose to kayak by yourself, you will explore only one bay or the nearest beaches. Note that it is dangerous to leave the bay without a guide due to the possibility of big waves.

You can also easily climb to Bua Bok cave, which is much easier than reaching the viewpoint and is particularly appealing to children. When tourists begin to arrive on the island, you can spend time on a deserted beach on the other side of the island and even visit a one more cave. Ask the staff about the water level before visiting the beach, as low tides are frequent, and remember to apply repellents before entering the jungle.

When your time in paradise comes to an end (your returning procedure)

At 02.30-03.00 PM (your guide will tell you the exact time), wait at the place where you were landed. If you know the name of the company and remember how the crew looks, finding your boat should not be difficult. Do not worry if you cannot find your boat; they will not leave without you and will make sure to find you!

By 04.00 or 04.30 PM, you will reach Koh Samui or Koh Phangan, depending on the boat. We provide a transfer to your hotel on Koh Samui only or on Koh Phangan if you traveled by a Big boat.

Don't forget to bring some flashllight with you.

In summary, if you're looking for an unforgettable romantic tour on your vacation to Koh Samui or Koh Phangan, we highly recommend a visit to Angthong Marine Park. With its stunning natural beauty, diverse marine life, and various accommodation options, it's the perfect destination for a relaxing and adventurous getaway.
